Bookkeeping for business mentor clients provides the reliable financial records business owners need to understand where they really stand and put their mentor’s recommendations into practice.
I work with businesses introduced by business mentors, providing the ongoing bookkeeping service directly to their clients while the mentor retains the existing advisory relationship.
The principle is simple: good business advice is considerably easier to act upon when the underlying books are accurate, reconciled and up to date.
Bookkeeping that supports your mentoring
Business mentors often help owners improve cash flow, pricing, profitability, staffing, growth and overall business performance.
Those conversations become much harder when the financial records are months behind, the bank is not reconciled, debtors cannot be relied upon or the owner does not really know their monthly cost base.
I provide the bookkeeping underneath that relationship, including bank and credit-card reconciliation, sales and purchase ledgers, debtor and creditor balances, control accounts, consistent transaction coding and regular month-end bookkeeping.
Where historic records are already in poor condition, I can also help stabilise and reconcile the bookkeeping before moving the client onto an ongoing monthly service.
The objective is straightforward: give the business owner better control of their numbers and give the mentor a stronger financial foundation for the work they are doing together.
Consistency across your client portfolio
Where a business mentor works with several businesses, there can be considerable value in creating greater consistency across the client portfolio.
Where appropriate, I can work to an agreed chart of accounts, bookkeeping conventions and month-end structure across suitable clients.
Each business remains individual, but the underlying financial information becomes more familiar and easier to interpret.
This can reduce the time spent working out how each client’s books have been constructed and allow more of the mentoring conversation to focus on the business itself.
Direct or white-label bookkeeping support
I can work directly with your client or provide bookkeeping on a white-label basis, depending on how you prefer to structure the relationship.
You remain the business mentor and trusted adviser. My role is to make sure the financial records underneath the business are reliable.
Typical ongoing bookkeeping is £250 per month, subject to volume and complexity. Significant historic catch-up work is agreed separately.
I also offer a 15% recurring referral fee for clients introduced to Bookkeeping Packages Ltd. This can be paid to the introducer or, if preferred, donated to a charity of their choice.
